The Constitution briefly describes the general aims of the Association as the promotion of “the study of the social, economic and political affairs of the Iberian area together with its languages”. Following on from this broad description we could further define our areas of activity in terms of geographical limits and historical period:
- Geographical limits: ACIS recognises and supports the cultural and linguistic diversity of the Iberian Peninsula, addressing not only national affairs but also regional identities and minority communities. Its geographical scope extends to the Peninsula’s historical and contemporary relations with Portuguese- and Spanish-speaking countries worldwide. Broader international interactions are also encompassed within its remit.
- Historical period: The chronological focus primarily spans the nineteenth, twentieth, and twenty-first centuries.
- Language: In addition to its multidisciplinary perspective, ACIS highlights the richness of Iberian cultural expressions and linguistic plurality, with particular attention to contemporary usage and to their social and political contexts.

These are our two first fast-track articles:

‘The (trans)formation of identity: The evolution of categories related to gender diversity in the case of trans-activism in Barcelona (1978–2010)’ by GerdardColl-Planas and Miquel Missé
